  Asking, I discovered the business was founded in 1868 in the Pillars and moved round the corner in 1932 to the present premises when the Pillars was demolished. Braithwaite is still run by the same family. Dundonians get their coffee here but I got very special loose leaf fruit tea. I asked where the lovely coffee containers on the shelves came from and heard, unsurprised, that they had been there for pretty much forever.
